Customer service.

When buying shit be nice to the person serving to you, chances are they are having a shit day and will appreciate it, they will also be more inclined to give you a better price.

This parallels making complaints, be nice but assertive to assure your point is not lost whilst not being a dickhead. The manager etc will be more inclined to give you free shit.

Further more, to get out of shitty contracts and etc once again be a gentleman, ask to speak to superiors and tell them that you were unaware/whatever. Tell them you're moving state and that their service has been amazing and you want to stay with the company (they'd much rather keep you than get a once off payment). Obviously bail and join another company once they let you go.

  3. I agree. Been in customer service for years, and I really appreciate it when people are kind. I'll go the extra mile for them and give them discounts. It's just how it goes.

  4. Great advice. In all of my jobs dealing with people, I was much more likely to bend the rules or go the extra mile for someone *NOT* being a dick.
